House Leadership Tursle: Dogara’s Camp Concedes To Gbajabiamila’s Camp, but insists on Federal Character

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara's camp have conceded the Majority Leader’s position to Honourable Femi Gbajabiamila’s camp in the lower chamber of the National Assembly. However, Dogara's camp insisted that the principle of equity and federal character must be respected in the distribution of the offices of the principal officers.
Conceding to Honourable Gbajabiamila was not without a caution that the candidate must not emerge from the Southwest or Northeast geopolitical zone, an indication that the group has proactively edged out Gbajabiamila.
In a related development, the Spokesman of the Gbajabiamila group, Honourable Nasir Daura, posited in a separate interview that no counter-offer had been made to the APC loyalists’ group. With this process, the lingering crisis over the positions of principal officers in the House of Representatives may be far from over.
The APC had written to the Speaker of the House, nominating Gbajabiamila as the House Leader and recommending lawmakers to party’s remaining leadership positions but this did not go down well with the Speaker, Yakubu Dogara's camp, hence the leadership tursle.
