Nollywood launches Africa Magic's telenovela, 'Hush'




On Friday, the 1st of April 2016, film and television stakeholders and en­thusiasts gathered at the Four Points by Sheraton in Victoria Island, Lagos, to herald the launch of Africa Magic’s new tele­novela, ‘Hush.’
The event which was hosted by ace com­pere and TV personality, Ebuka Obi-Uchen­du, had in attendance some of Nollywood’s biggest names, including cast members of the new show like Richard Mofe-Damijo, Thelma Okoduwa, Meg Otanwa and Rotimi Adel­egan amongst others.
Guests were treated to a screener of the telenovela, with individual cast and crew members discussing their experience with ‘Hush’ and what viewers should expect when the show premieres on Monday, the 4th of April.
Speaking further, the Regional Director, M-Net West Africa, Wangi Mba-Uzoukwu said: “’Hush’ is our exciting new telenovela which promises a lot of excitement, intrigue, suspense and romance. The show features a blend of Nollywood veterans and exciting new talents, and promises to be an exciting watch for our viewers across Africa. Many of our viewers remember our last telenovela, ‘Hotel Majestic’, and all the excitement that show brought to their screens - ‘Hush’ prom­ises to exceed that level of excitement and we urge viewers to tune in”.
Veteran Hausa musician, Sani Dandawo, dies
The Hausa music industry experienced sadness, as they put to rest one of their own, veteran musician Sani Aliyu Dan­dawo, who died on Sunday evening, April 3rd. The musician who was aged 72, died at his home in Yauri, Yauri local government area, Kebbi state, after battling a prolonged illness. He was a well-known Taushe Hausa musician in the North.
Sani Dandawo, who was a Muslim, was bur­ied on the same day he died (3rd of April), a customary practice for Muslims. He was sur­vived by an aged mother, 2 wives, 22 children and 25 grandchildren. Through his music, he contributed towards the promotion of peace and development.
Sani Dandawo’s musical career began in 1964. His father, Alhaji Dandawo, was a popu­lar musician before his death. Sani belongs to the mawakinfada class of singers who sing for traditional rulers. He has the ears of wealthy society members and politicians. He once sang for the late premier, Sir Ahmadu Bello.The late musician is known for songs like Sarkin Sudan, Shehu Shagari, Kuzo Muga Madaki, Dan Iyan Kano, among others. May his soul rest in peace, Amen!
